Himachal Weather News: The weather havoc in Himachal Pradesh is less likely to stop in the coming days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed several districts in the state on a yellow alert for heavy rainfall till July 15. As per the forecast by the state Meteorological Department, districts like Shimla, Mandi and Sirmaur are very likely to receive spells of rain at isolated locations on Friday. 

Himachal Pradesh Weather Forecast, Flash Flood Warning Issued

The weather department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Kullu, Mandi and Sirmaur on Saturday. However, there is no alert in the remaining districts of the state. Temperature drop has also been recorded in high-altitude areas of the state due to spells of rainfall. 

On the other hand flash flood warning has also been issued for the six districts of the state. According to the Hydromet Division of the State’s Meteorological Department, districts like Shimla, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Sirmour and Chamba are expected to witness light to moderate flash floods in the watershed and neighbourhoods.

The state will also witness a few spells of heavy rain at isolated places of the state along with light to moderate rain till July 16.

Weather Woes Persist In The State As 46 Lives In 9 Days

According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HP SDMA), over the past 9 days, heavy rainfall has caused widespread havoc in Himachal Pradesh, claiming a total of 46 lives, including 15 lost in rain-related incidents and 31 in road accidents.

27 people remain missing due to the havoc caused by heavy rainfall, while five others have sustained injuries. 

According to HP SDMA, "Rain-related deaths are 15, 27 persons are missing, five are injured, road accident deaths stand at 31, 290 people have been rescued in Mandi alone, 100 to 150 people have been evacuated from Pandoh Market due to Beas River surge. 677 people are currently in relief camps across 17 centres."
