Incidents triggered by incessant monsoon rains have wreaked havoc across Himachal Pradesh. As many as 20 houses were destroyed in 11 cloudburst incidents reported in the state on Tuesday. Besides, 406 roads have been closed for traffic due to landslides caused by heavy downpours.
Cloudbursts in Mandi on Tuesday caused heavy loss of life and property. 10 people have died while 30 people are missing after houses collapsed and flooded at seven places in Gohar, Karsog, Thunag and Dharampur subdivisions. Sandhol in Mandi district recorded 223.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

IMD Alert For More Rains
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in the state till July 3, while heavy showers have been forecasted at some places on July 4 and 5.
A very heavy rain is likely to drench Kangra and Solan and heavy rain is expected at some places in Mandi, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Shimla and Sirmaur. The Meteorological Department has predicted more than normal rainfall in July.

CM Sukhu Reviews Rescue Efforts
Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu estimates the loss due to the rain-related incidents to Rs 500 crore, adding that the figure may further surge. Instructions have been issued to swiftly carry out relief and rehabilitation work in the affected areas.
