Weather Update: A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region starting Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this system will bring thunderstorms, hailstorms, and heavy rain to the mountains, while the plains are likely to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds.

Western Disturbance To Bring Rain, Thunderstorms

According to the weather office, a fresh western disturbance will reach the mountain regions on Sunday, with its effects gradually spreading across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh over the following three to four days.

While daytime temperatures across the national capital and adjoining areas are expected to rise beforehand, the IMD does not anticipate a widespread heatwave. However, Rajasthan, Gujarat and western Madhya Pradesh are expected to feel intense heat during this period.

Heatwave Likely In Rajasthan And Gujarat

According to the latest forecast, Rajasthan and Gujarat are expected to experience heatwave conditions for the next five to six days. Additionally, hot winds are likely to affect parts of western Madhya Pradesh on May 12 and May 13.

Weather Outlook

The weather across eastern India is expected to remain active, with the IMD forecasting clouds, strong winds, and scattered rain for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal over the next few days. According to the weather agency, moisture and local weather activity have led to continued rain and thunderstorms.

In eastern Uttar Pradesh, districts such as Gorakhpur and Deoria are also expected to experience cloudy skies and scattered rain.

Meanwhile, pre-monsoon activity remains strong in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and surrounding states due to moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Monsoon To Arrive On Time

According to a report by Jagran.com, citing a meteorologist, the monsoon is expected to arrive in Kerala on time this year due to the increased activity in the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by May 22, after which it will gradually advance towards Kerala.
