Independence Day 2023: As India is all set to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 15, authorities have made multi-layer security arrangements across Delhi with more than 10,000 personnel manning the area in and around the historic Red Fort.

Independence Day 2023: Here Are Top 10 Points
- To keep an eye on VVIP movements, authorities erected some 1,000 cameras with facial recognition and video analytic systems in and around the Mughal-era fort and in other key areas.
- Traffic has also been restricted near the Red Fort till the end of the celebrations. "Delhi Police is on alert. Elaborate security arrangements have been made, the exercise for which started around three-four months ago. Anti-terror activities have also been done to check the areas in the districts near the venue," Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
- CCTV cameras with AI-based facial recognition have been put in place, and security measures also include anti-drone equipment.
- "Adequate traffic arrangements have been put in place. The traffic police have also issued an advisory. We urge people to follow the advisory. The borders (of Delhi) have been closed for heavy vehicles from Monday night, while others entering the city are being checked. We are keeping a strict vigil on social media as well," Nalwa said.
- In view of recent violence in Nuh and other parts of Haryana, a strict vigil is being ensured, police said.
- "Independence Day is being celebrated with full enthusiasm this year with no COVID-19 restrictions in place. Therefore, a robust deployment of police has been ensured," Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dependra Pathak said.
- Anti-drone devices have been put in place at the Red Fort. All anti-terror efforts, including the installation of air defence weapons, have been initiated.
