79th Independence Day: India is celebrating 79 years of its independence on Friday with zeal and enthusiasm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebration by unfurling the national flag from the Red Fort at the centre. Further, the Chief Ministers led the celebration at the state level.

India is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today with the theme Naya Bharat, reflecting the country’s significant progress towards achieving the government's vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

While all the government buildings across the country are lit up in tri-colours, many, including celebrities and commoners, extended their wishes through social media posts.

There is also a tradition of flying kites on Independence Day, particularly in Delhi. The Deputy High Commissioner of Australia in Delhi, Nick McCaffery, extended his greeting to India by flying a tri-colour kite on the auspicious occasion.
