The Ministry of External Affairs is mulling forming a multi-party delegation in the aftermath of escalations with Pakistan to travel to countries and brief them about how India suffered the brunt of terrorism and how it stood united, multiple news reports said.

The government is working on the idea of putting different party leaders, especially from the parliamentary standing committees. The government is thinking of selecting the names of those who can effectively portray India's united stance.

Shashi Tharoor likely to lead delegation

As per a report by News18, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor may lead the delegation after his public praise of the Centre's approach towards the recent escalation after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

Reports also suggest that the delegation will begin with travelling to the European and Gulf nations. The MEA is working with the Secretariat of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to draw up a list of the people.

Composition of groups

The Centre will form eight groups of 5-6 MPs each, an official from the MEA, and a government representative. These eight groups will travel to five countries during 10 days.

What will delegation do?

The delegation would meet foreign governments, think tanks, media outlets, and other stakeholders to provide India's narrative on the viability of the Operation Sindoor while exposing Pakistan's nexus with terrorists to destabilise India and subsequently, the subcontinent.

The delegation will emphasise that after the Pahalgam terror attack, India's strong action was not only necessary but morally plausible. Additionally, the delegation will focus on underscoring the largely calibrated, non-escalatory, and precision strike on terrorist camps.

The delegation will present India's holistic stand on non-escalatory retaliation while emphasising its commitment to deal with such actions with intensified force and a united political front.
