Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh took over as the new Chief of the Air Staff on Monday. With over 5,000 hours of flight experience, he succeeded Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, who retired after a three-year term as the head of the Indian Air Force. Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari helmed the Indian Air Force (IAF) for over three years.
“Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari handed over command of #IndianAirForce today. On the occasion, he paid homage to the departed brave hearts at the #NationalWarMemorial in the morning before undertaking the traditional 'walk through' at the Vayu Bhawan. He was presented a ceremonial Guard of Honour as the parting salute by the Air Warriors of #IAF,” IAF posted on X.

About Amar Preet Singh
Born on October 27, 1964, Air Chief Marshal Singh was commissioned into the fighter pilot stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1984.
During his nearly 40-year-long career, he has held numerous key positions. As a test pilot, he led the MiG-29 upgrade project management team in Moscow. He also served as the project director at the National Flight Test Centre, where he was responsible for the flight testing of the Tejas aircraft. He has held significant staff appointments such as Air Defence Commander in the South Western Air Command and Senior Air Staff Officer in the Eastern Air Command.
Before assuming the role of Vice Chief of the Air Staff in February last year, he was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command.

Singh has been honoured with prestigious awards such as the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. Known for his enthusiasm for fitness, Singh is also an avid squash player.
