The Indian Railways is making special plans to provide travelers with the best meal catering service, which would be quite handy. If a traveler is hungry or is unable to carry food, they might purchase it aboard the train. According to recent reports, efforts are being undertaken to develop pantry cars that will be fitted in trains in accordance with the requirements, reported News18.
According to further reports, 110 pantry vehicles are being built specifically for the task. In an interview, Deepak Kumar, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, disclosed that pantry cars are now placed on premium trains such as Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Tejas trains.
The availability of food is not a concern for the passengers on the aforementioned trains. Some express and superfast trains also contain a pantry, according to further information. Due to the lack of food pantries, passengers on special trains must deal with food-related challenges.

The special trains are only used during special occasions like Holi, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, and summer vacations, so they do not run regularly.
Because of the lack of a pantry, passengers are forced to buy food from vendors selling around the trains. These vendors frequently sell food without authorisation, which is not only expensive but also of poor quality.
Because of this scenario, the Indian Railways has decided to create 110 pantry cars during the next two years. Around 55 pantry cars are anticipated to be built in 2024-25, followed by another 55 in 2025-26, he said.
Deepak Kumar claimed that they cannot construct pantry cars in every special train. So, for the rest of these special trains, vendor trains are put outside the coaches on the platforms. It's an easy method for passengers to get tasty cuisine.
