A video of a passenger physically assaulting an IndiGo pilot during his delay announcement has gone viral on social media. As seen in the video, a man in the yellow hoodie suddenly ran up from the last row and hit the new pilot who reportedly replaced the previous crew due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms following several hours of delay.

The incident took place on the IndiGo flight (6E-2175) from Delhi to Goa which was delayed due to fog by several hours. The passenger has been identified as Sahil Kataraia. Following this, IndiGo filed a case against the passenger. “We received a complaint and are taking appropriate legal action,” DCP, Indira Gandhi International Airport was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Following the incident, IndiGo has formed an internal committee to address the incident and referred the matter to the committee. “Actions, including the potential inclusion of passengers on the 'no-fly list' are under consideration as unruly behaviour category,” IndiGo official told news agency ANI.

Flight Duty Time Limitations or FDTL are regulations which are crucial for ensuring the health and safety of pilots and flight attendants by mandating rest intervals and reducing the risk of fatigue-related accidents.

“A passenger punched an Indigo capt in the aircraft as he was making a delay announcement. The guy ran up from the last row and punched the new Capt who replaced the previous crew who crossed FDTL. Unbelievable!” wrote an X user while tagging DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

"This person should be booked for assault as well as put on a No Fly List. While @IndiGo6E is in the news for all the wrong reasons and must be taken to task for its shortcomings, but this is totally unacceptable passenger behaviour," wrote another.

Meanwhile, the aviation security agency has started an investigation regarding the viral video, ANI reported citing government sources.

More than 100 flights were delayed and over 70 were cancelled amid chilling weather conditions, as reported by flight tracker website flightradar24. Earlier on Sunday, dense fog conditions and reduced visibility affected Indigo flight operations which caused inconvenience to passengers traveling by air.

Major airlines including IndiGo , Vistara, and SpiceJet have issued warnings that the ongoing weather conditions in Delhi and Kolkata could further affect flight operations.

Earlier, a man took to X to share the ‘worst flight experience of his life’ after his IndiGo flight was delayed six times totalling seven hours. He was travelling from Kolata to Bengaluru. In a long thread on X, a user Debarghya Das, expressed his frustration and said he would ‘avoid flying them again’ after he missed an international flight.
