IndiGo flight cancellations: IndiGo's flight operations are hit for the third day today, prompting cancellations and delays, affecting thousands of passengers across India. On Thursday alone, at least 300 flights have been cancelled at three major airports.
On Wednesday, at least 150 flights were cancelled. The sudden collapse of operations was triggered by crew shortage and modified roster rules. The airline is struggling to ensure adequate crew to operate the flights according to the new flight-duty and rest-period norms for pilots.
"IndiGo has been facing acute crew shortage since the implementation of the second phase of the FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitations) norms, leading to cancellations and huge delays in its operations across the airports," news agency PTI reported.

Chaotic scenes at airports
Amid the massive cancellations and delays, the passengers have expressed disappointment. Chaotic visuals were reported at airports over flight disruptions.
At Mumbai airport, an angry passenger was heard saying, "Do anything but just get us a flight."
The passengers also vented out their resentment on social media as one took to X saying that he was stuck at Hyderabad airport for 15 hours. "We have been at Hyderabad airport from yesterday at 6:00 PM until today at 9:00 AM — over 12 hours — with no action taken by IndiGo regarding the Pune flight. This situation has caused significant inconvenience".
According to civil aviation ministry data, the on-time performance (OTP) of IndiGo dropped to 19.7 percent on Wednesday from 35 per cent a day earlier, according to civil aviation ministry data.
The Federation of India Pilots (FIP), the pilots' body, criticised IndiGo’s hiring freeze and 'unorthodox' lean staffing strategy, saying these directly caused massive flight disruptions on Wednesday.
