An IndiGo fligh 6E 6764 on its way to Chennai from Guwahati was diverted to Bengaluru on Thursday night after Pilot issued ‘fuel Mayday' call, news agency ANI reported. The plane made emergency landing in Bengaluru after alert was raised due to insufficient fuel. The incident comes just a week after Air India Dreamliner flight to London crashed shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad.

The plane was diverted to Bengaluru because of the congestion on Chennai airport, which prevented timely landing of the aircraft. ANI, quoting sources, reported that IndiGo flight landed safely in Bengaluru at 8:15 pm on Thursday. The pilots have been derostered.
“After getting the distress call, the ATC (Air Traffic Control) alerted the on-ground staff members who swung into action. Medical and fire services personnel were in place. The aircraft landed safely at 8:20 pm," the Times of India reported, quoting sources at the Kempegowda International Airport.
Earlier, an Indigo flight, which was travelling to Madurai, sought permission to fly back and land in Chennai after it suffered a technical issue. The plane with 68 passengers had landed safely in Chennai, and passengers were disembarked safely, NDTV reported, quoting sources.

Earlier on June 12, an Air India flight crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after after takeoff and seconds after pilot issued ‘Mayday’ call. The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound to Gatwick in London crashed into the hostel mess of BJ medical college after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahemdabad.
All 242 passengers on board succumbed to the deadly accident except a British passenger of Indian origin who was sitting near the emergency exit.
