A college student living in Khajrana police station area in Madhya’ Pradesh’s Indore was defrauded of approximately Rs 3 lakh after ordering a water bottle online. The student had ordered a water bottle from an online quick delivery app, and shortly thereafter, she received a call from a man.
The man allegedly told her that her order had been cancelled and sent her a link to refund the money. The fraudster explained that small amounts could not be refunded directly, so the process would have to be completed through the link. The student clicked on the link. She then received another call.
Over the second call, the man claimed that he had obscene photos of the student and would make them viral on social media. He demanded Rs 30,000 in exchange for this. The student transferred the money to the UPI account he provided.
When the student arrived at the college to pay her fees, she discovered that her bank account had no money. Around Rs 3 lakh had been withdrawn from her account through various transactions.
The student then filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Department and Khajrana police station. Police have registered a case against unknown suspects and launched an investigation.

In another crime news, a young woman from Indore moved to Mumbai, she didn't know what tragedy was following her. As crimes against women continue to rise, a 23-year-old MBA student was forced to work at dance bars after giving false promises of a job under Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Manisha Chaudhary. Investigation revealed that the mastermind behind the racket is Suraj Pratap Singh Deora, General Secretary of the BJP's Dahisar unit.
The victim, a resident of Shajapur district, was pursuing an MBA in Indore. In August 2023, she came in contact with an agent named Mohsin Ansari. Swayed by his persuasion, she traveled from Indore to Mumbai in October 2023. The following day, the PG accommodation owner intimidated her into accompanying him to a high-profile event, where about 25 girls were dancing on stage. She met Deora at that event.
The victim claimed that Deora lured him with fake promises of a job and spiked her drink, and recorded objectionable videos of victim. Following this, the accused blackmailed and sexually assaulted her for a year. The accused and his associates also swindled off Rs 15 lakh from the MP woman.
