In response to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, the Government of India has initiated Operation Sindhu, a strategic evacuation mission aimed at ensuring the safety of Indian nationals in Iran. As part of the first phase of this operation, 110 Indian students, predominantly from Jammu and Kashmir, have been successfully evacuated from northern Iran. With active support from Indian diplomatic missions in Iran and Armenia, the students crossed into Armenia on June 17 and boarded a special flight from Yerevan on June 18.
They are expected to arrive in New Delhi in the early hours of June 19, 2025. The Indian government has expressed its gratitude to both Iran and Armenia for facilitating the evacuation and reiterated its commitment to the well-being of citizens abroad, urging remaining nationals in Iran to stay in contact with the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs’ 24x7 control room.
