Senior citizens in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, received digital safety training through a seminar held on Saturday. This event was organised under the Google-backed 'DigiKavach' initiative, specifically as part of the campaign titled 'Digital Security for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi,' in collaboration with Jagran New Media and Vishvas News.

The seminar, hosted at the Bharat Mata Mandir Hall in Sector-7, began with an address by Rajesh Upadhyay, Editor-in-Chief of Jagran New Media. He highlighted the program's importance in the context of rising cybercrime. He stated that in an era where mobile phones are an essential part of life, it is crucial to remain vigilant against scammers. These scammers typically use tactics of greed and fear to lure people into their traps.

Elaborating on online fraud, Upadhyay noted that cybercriminals increasingly target senior citizens, and such cases are on the rise. Fraudsters frequently send attractive messages and phishing links, often during festivals or special occasions. He emphasised that the safest defence is simply not to click on any such links.

To secure senior citizens from online fraud and scams, Upadhyay demonstrated how to create strong passwords for Google and social media accounts. He identified Google Passkey as a safer alternative to traditional passwords, which require a fingerprint or face scan for login. Furthermore, he advised that activating Two-Factor Authentication is another effective way to keep accounts secure.

Upcoming Seminars in Ahmedabad on November 23 and 24

Following the event in Gandhinagar, seminars are scheduled for Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on November 23 and 24. The first will be held at Kalasagar Mall at 6:00 PM on the 23rd, and the second at Sad-Vichar Bhavan starting at 4:00 PM on the 24th.
