In Delhi, Google, in collaboration with Dainik Jagran and Vishvas News, organised a seminar for senior citizens on Saturday under its prestigious 'DigiKavach' programme. The event was held as part of the campaign titled 'Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Saathi'. During the seminar, senior citizens were informed about different types of online scams and the ways to avoid them. The Single Seniors Welfare Trust also supported the event held at Clay 1 Grand Banquet in Wazirabad, Delhi.
A Vishvas News expert explained the importance of the programme, stating that cybercriminals use various tactics to trap people. Fraudsters often target users through phishing links or fake websites. Staying alert is the only way to avoid such traps.
Ashish Maharshi, Associate Editor at Vishvas News, gave detailed information about cyber scams through several examples. He said that one must always remain cautious to prevent cybercrimes. Clicking on any unknown link can transfer a lifetime of savings into the accounts of cyber fraudsters.

Meanwhile, Devika Mehta, Deputy Editor at Vishvas News, explained how to create strong passwords for Google and social media accounts. She said using a passkey is a better option. Two-factor authentication also helps keep accounts secure. She also advised people not to click on phishing links that come with attractive messages.

Another Vishvas News expert explained that fraudsters often impersonate insurance or bank agents to steal users' personal and banking details, using them to issue new credit cards and cause financial loss. He said personal information and OTPs should never be shared with anyone. Shukla added that in case of any cybercrime, one should immediately report it by calling 1930.
Suraj Manchanda from Single Seniors Welfare Trust praised the initiative, saying that such awareness programmes are essential in the age of the internet. Senior citizens can protect themselves from any kind of fraud only by remaining alert.
