A digital safety training program for senior citizens was held on Friday in Himmatnagar, Gujarat, under the 'Digital Security of Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi' campaign. The event was organised as part of Google's prestigious 'DigiKavach' initiative, in collaboration with Dainik Jagran and Vishvas News.
During the program at the Lakshmi Party Plot Banquet Hall, experts from Vishvas News educated attendees about the rapidly increasing cybercrime and fraud, and provided details about Google's 'DigiKavach' initiative. Emphasising the program's significance, they noted that cybercriminals frequently target senior citizens. They often target them by asking for an OTP on the pretext of a stopped pension, or by luring them into fake jobs and investment scams.
A Vishvas News trainer explained at the seminar that cybercriminals entice people to click on phishing links by offering attractive deals. Clicking on these links can result in the theft of user data and lead to financial losses. They advised participants to strictly avoid clicking on such links.
Rajesh Upadhyay, Editor-in-Chief of Jagran New Media, warned at the event that cybercriminals use deepfake videos of well-known personalities to persuade people to invest in platforms by promising huge returns. He cautioned against falling for such tricks and stressed that any such scheme must be thoroughly investigated beforehand. Furthermore, he demonstrated techniques for creating strong passwords for Google and social media accounts. The event was supported by the Evergreen Senior Citizen Forum of Himmatnagar, and participants took part enthusiastically.

Next Event Scheduled for November 22nd in Gandhinagar
Following Himmatnagar, two seminars will be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Saturday, November 22nd. The first session will be held at Ambedkar Hall in Sector-12 at 10:00 AM, and the second at Bharatmala Mandir Hall in Sector-7 at 4:00 PM.
