Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Arshad Madani has sparked a fresh row with his comments linked to the ongoing Delhi blast investigation. Madani claimed that Muslims face biased treatment in the country, pointing to cases involving Al Falah University and leader Azam Khan. His statements triggered strong criticism, with the BJP accusing him of misleading the community and failing to contribute to its advancement.

"Today, a Muslim, Mamdani, can become the mayor of New York. A 'Khan' can become the mayor of London. But in India, a Muslim cannot become the vice chancellor of a university. And if he does, he will end up in jail like Azam Khan. Look at what is happening in Al-Falah. He is in jail, and who knows how many years he will have to be there," said Madani.

The Al Falah group, a point of connection among suspects held in the 10/11 blast case, is under investigation for suspected money laundering and terror funding, with its founder Jawad Siddiqui currently in ED custody.

Amid this backdrop, Arshad Madani asserted that while some claim Muslims appear powerless, he rejects that notion. He highlighted global examples of Muslim leadership, noting that Zohran Mamdani has risen to the position of New York mayor and Sadiq Khan has led London as its mayor. "The government wants the ground to slip from under their feet," alleged Madani.

The BJP dismissed Madani’s allegations outright. Party leader Mohsin Raza accused him of hypocrisy, claiming he has long exploited the country’s Muslims for personal and political gain.

“Arshad Madani and his family have siphoned off funds meant for Muslim minorities while engaging in blame politics. This duplicity has been their trademark. They took grants for years but delivered nothing, all while invoking the community for political mileage,” Raza said.

Another BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, "Maulana Arshad Madani’s statement is highly irresponsible. He has spoken wrongly and defamed India. For Indian Muslims, there is no better country than India, no better friend than Hindus, and no better leader than PM Modi. This country is progressing on the path of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas."

Another BJP leader, Yaser Jilani, also hit out at Madani, calling him misguided and insisting that India offers Muslims no better home, and that Hindus remain their strongest well-wishers.

"There is confusion in the statement made by Arshad Madani. On one hand, he says that the condition of Muslims in the world is not good, and on the other hand, he talks about Zohran Mamdani, the Mayor-elect of New York City. He also referred to Azam Khan and Al-Falah University. The owner of Al-Falah University is a perpetrator, and Azam Khan is involved in various offences. The government is taking everyone along. He should not create confusion among the people of the nation," said Jilani.

Congress leader Udit Raj backed Madani’s remarks, saying that Muslims are indeed experiencing discrimination in the country. He acknowledged that a terror-related incident may have occurred at Al-Falah University and stressed that such acts deserve no leniency. However, he questioned why the entire institution was being vilified and why Muslim homes were being demolished. Any financial or administrative lapses, he said, should be examined strictly under the law.

Raj also drew a comparison with the United States, noting that its strength lies in the absence of institutional discrimination.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari added that the Prime Minister should hold a press conference and offer a clear explanation on the matter.
