An intense counter-terror operations involving heavy gun fights between terrorists and security forces were on in the Kalakote area of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, said officials. Defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, "Technology is being used to monitor the terrorists. Presently, intense operations are under progress."
"Following successful operations in the same area on September 13, due to continual flow of intelligence, area domination and constant pressure on the terrorists, a specific intelligence about the movement of some suspected individuals was received on October 1 by the police. A joint operation by the Indian Army and police was launched in general area Kalakote," he said.

Meanwhile, two army personnel were injured in a gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri. A joint team of the army and Jammu and Kashmir Police had cordoned off the Broh and Soom forest belts in the Kalakote area on Monday following information about suspicious movement, officials said.
The terrorists fired at the troops in an attempt to break the cordon resulting in retaliatory fire, officials said. In the gun battle, two army personnel were injured, a senior police officer said. He said that they have been hospitalised and their condition is stable. Two terrorists are believed to be inside the cordoned area, they said, adding reinforcements have been rushed to plug all possible escape routes, they said.
On September 12 and 13, the security forces gunned down two terrorists in the Narla area of the Rajouri district. During the September 12 encounter besides terrorists an an army dog 'Kent' laid their life in the line of duty and four security personnel, three soldiers and a special police officer, were injured.
