The officials on Friday stated that the government is preparing to connect Udhampur district of Jammu division by air route after completion of the project of connecting the region with railways. They further stated that the first commercial flight is soon expected to land on the runway of Udhampur Air Force Station.
Minister of State and Ghaziabad MP Jitendra Singh has proposed to extend the Air India Express flight from Jammu to Udhampur (the services will start from March 23). The initial proposed route of the flight service is from Ghaziabad to Jammu; however, the MoS stated that the flight to Udhampur will ensure better connectivity for the residents of these regions. Apart from this, the Jammu Airport Director has also sent a proposal to Air India Express to extend the route.
The flight to Udhampur is expected to provide great convenience to the residents of the region. Apart from this, the flight to this region will also ensure that more devotees will visit Vaishno Devi. Earlier last month, the officials stated that the flight from Hindon airport to Jammu will operate on every Saturday.
In a post on X, Jitendra Singh stated that a proposal has been placed on record to have a commercial flight land at Udhampur. "We have moved an ambitious proposal to include Udhampur as an air flight stopover for the new Air India Express flight introduced between Hindon Ghaziabad- Jammu-Hindon," he stated.

"However, there are a number of issues involved and approvals to be sought, also because Udhampur is also like Jammu an Air Force managed airport, but a proposal has been placed on record to have a commercial flight land at Udhampur, if not everyday, then at least on certain day/days of the week. Let us hope, our follow-up bears fruit," he added.
