- Prominent Jan Suraaj leaders join BJP in Patna.
- Exodus impacts Prashant Kishore's Bankipur bypoll campaign.
- BJP strengthens base with key inductions like KC Sinha.
Ahead of the Bankipur assembly bypoll, where Jan Suraaj Party's founder Prashant Kishore himself is in the fray, the party is suffering a massive exodus. Several prominent leaders and activists associated with JSP have joined the BJP in the last couple of days, heightening political activity amid the election atmosphere.
On Thursday, famous film director Chetna Jhamb, Madhukar Yadav, and Shruti Shri switched over to the BJP. They joined the saffron party at the state office in Patna in the presence of the party's state unit chief Sanjay Saraogi.
The BJP welcomed the leaders and described their joining as a major achievement in the party's campaign to expand its base.
The exodus of JSP leaders just before the elections is seen as a major dent to Kishore's campaign and his party, especially the active involvement of several of these leaders in Patan politics.
The exodus could send a message that Jan Suraaj is in disarray and is crumbling at a crucial moment when the party's top leader is contesting the election.
Inducting KC Sinha, Gopal Singh and Bittu Singh masterstroke for BJP
KC Sinha, a former JSP candidate from the Kumhrar assembly constituency and a teacher, also joined the BJP on Wednesday. Gopal Singh, a former Jansuraj candidate from the Maner assembly constituency, too grabbed BJP's symbol.
Along with these leaders, a large number of office bearers and workers have also joined the BJP. The party is hoping to get a deeper clutch of the ground.
Another prominent name among those joining the BJP is Bittu Singh, a former JSP candidate from the Digha assembly constituency. His wife, Vinita Bittu Singh, has also joined the BJP.
Vinita has previously contested the mayoral election, and the BJP hopes to benefit from her political experience and public outreach at the grassroots level.
The induction of Sinha and Bittu Singh is more significant politically in that direction, especially at a time when preparations for the by-election on the Bankipur assembly seat have intensified.
Political experts believe that in the coming days, more new equations may be seen in Bihar politics and this may also impact the strategies for the bypoll.
