Jharkhand Weather:  Jharkhand is under a weather alert as the Ranchi Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rain in a few locations for the next 72 hours. This is due to a low-pressure area that is likely to affect the weather in Jharkhand, as well as a cyclonic circulation that is still present across north Bangladesh and the neighbouring areas.

The IMD said that the low-pressure region over north Bangladesh and its surroundings is still stationary and that the cyclonic circulation around it is extending up to 9.4 kilometres above mean sea level. In the coming day or two, West Bengal is expected to be affected by this weather system as it approaches westward.

One major reason for the anticipated severe rainfall is the monsoon trough at mean sea level. The monsoon trough currently extends east-southeast to the northeast Bay of Bengal, passing through Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan to Siddhi, Gaya, Rohtak, Orai, and the core of the low-pressure system over north Bangladesh.

This trough has a significant impact on the present weather pattern throughout the region since it stretches up to 0.9 kilometres above mean sea level.

The IMD forecast significant rains and sporadic thunderstorms with lightning in a few locations of Jharkhand during the next several days. This signal, which indicates locations that might suffer unexpected, strong downpours and possibly hazardous situations, is especially important for local authorities and citizens.

Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of northern and southern Jharkhand. The IMD has asked people in these locations to stay attentive and take all necessary steps to avoid accidents and damage.
