J-K News:  A furious gun battle began in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. The encounter broke out when security officers intercepted a new group of infiltrators in the forest region near the International Border at Hiranagar in the Kathua district. Teams from the Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir police's Special Operations Group began a huge search operation in response to specific intelligence inputs.

The search operation was conducted in the Sanyal village near the Indo-Pakistan border in the Hiranagar sector region of Kathua district following the suspicious movement of individuals this evening.

Officials stated that reinforcements had been hurried to the scene and operation was in progress.

Kathua Encounter: Key Updates

- A seven-year-old girl has been injured in the crossfire, reported NDTV citing sources. According to the report, doctors have said that she is out of danger and stable.

- BJP leader Ravinder Raina said, "The army and police have noticed the movement of suspicious people in the Hiranagar area of Kathua. The entire area has been cordoned off because it is an area on the international border. There has been evidence of terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan through Hiranagar before this also. The Indian Army, BSF and Jammu and Kashmir Police have started a major search operation in the entire border area of Hiranagar, and I hope that if there is any movement of terrorists or any of their activities from the border, the terrorists will definitely be wiped out..."

- The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat, is constantly monitoring the situation and collaborating with local officials to ensure a complete reaction. Senior officials have been asked to arrive at the encounter location as soon as possible to monitor activities.

- Local authorities are advising residents to be calm and cooperative as security personnel try to eliminate the terrorists.

A combined search operation was initiated earlier in the day by security personnel in response to 'suspicious movement' observed in the general region of Sangla near Surankot, in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to ANI.

The Poonch Police and Romeo Forces of the Indian Army initiated the combined operation.

Recently, there have been several terrorist infiltrations into Jammu. A Pakistani terrorist was killed in a clash between security forces and militants in the Kupwara area on March 17.

Recently, terrorists killed three innocent citizens in the Kathua area. A fourteen-year-old kid was one of them.
