Five migrant labourers and a doctor were killed in a terrorist attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.

The assault took place near a tunnel under construction, leading to a swift reaction from security personnel. Authorities indicated that the victims were members of a construction crew engaged in the Z Morh tunnel project, aimed at linking Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir.

The two deceased individuals were quickly taken to a hospital following the shooting but were pronounced dead upon arrival. The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the terrorist attack in a post on X, stating, "Terror incident in Gagangeer, Ganderbal. The area has been cordoned off by security forces. More details will follow."

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the terrorist attack on unarmed civilians on X, expressing his condolences to the victims' families.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari condemned the 'horrific' terror attack, stating that the "innocent labourers" were working on an important infrastructure project.

Earlier on Friday, a non-local labourer was killed in a terrorist attack. His body was discovered under suspicious circumstances, with bullet wounds, in a maize crop in the Wandina area of Shopian, South Kashmir. The deceased was identified as Ashok Kumar Chauhan, a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar.
