The much-awaited Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district is all set to begin from July 15, with the district administration making registration and medical certification compulsory for all participating pilgrims. The yatra, which draws devotees from across the country, will continue till August 30, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

To ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage, the district administration convened a review meeting chaired by Kalpa Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Kaltaik, where detailed preparations were discussed. Kaltaik stated that the yatra would officially commence from Tangling village, while the Purbani Kanda route would be considered only after assessing its current condition.

Kaltaik further announced that a base camp will be established at Malling Khatta in Tangling, where a mandatory medical check-up for all pilgrims will be conducted. "Only those who complete the medical check-up and pay a fee of Rs 200 will be allowed to proceed," he added.

To streamline the process, online registration for the yatra will open from July 11, while offline registration will be facilitated at Tangling village from July 14.

In preparation for any emergencies during the yatra, a Quick Response Team is being set up. The SDM also stressed the importance of cleanliness and responsible behaviour, urging pilgrims to help maintain the sanctity of the yatra.

The Health Department has been directed to ensure the presence of medical facilities at several points on the route. Kaltaik said that public toilets, solar lighting, clean drinking water, rest shelters, oxygen cylinders, and medical aid will be made available in a timely and accessible manner along the pilgrimage path.

"For the health and safety of pilgrims, Ganesh Park will be equipped with large oxygen cylinders and a medical officer, while Parvati Cave will have a paramedical team and smaller oxygen cylinders," he said.

Local panchayat bodies have also been asked to extend their full cooperation during the yatra period. Kaltaik assured devotees that proper safety, logistics, and infrastructure arrangements are in place to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey for all.
