After some senior officials claimed that CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur, who allegedly slapped actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut, was apologetic for the act, Kulwinder’s brother Sher Singh Mahiwal said there is no point in apologising and she has no regrets as she has done “nothing wrong”. He added that the incident could have been avoided, had the governments acted against the newly elected MP.
Sher Singh Mahiwal, who is the general secretary of the Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Committee in Kapurthala district, explained his sister’s disappointment at Kangana’s “derogatory” statements against women participating in the farmers' protest in 2020. “My sister’s action was out of anguish against Kangana for her remarks. There were no signs of repentance and no point of apology,” he said.
Meanwhile, many farmer outfits including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, held a march on Sunday in Punjab's Mohali in support of the CISF woman. The march began from Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali. Seeking a free and fair probe into the matter, the farmers demanded that there should not be any injustice with the constable.
Why Was CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur Arrested?
CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur was arrested after she allegedly slapped Kangana Ranaut. The Mohali Police has booked Kaur under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint). Both are bailable offences.
Kaur was upset with Kangana and had slapped her following her take on the farmers' protest.

Kangana Ranaut Released Video Message Narrating Incident
Hours after the incident, Kangana released a video claiming that she was hit in the face and abused by the constable during a security check at the Chandigarh airport. Ranaut stated that the constable came towards her from the side and hit her in the face.
"She hit me in the face and started abusing me. I asked her why she did it and she said she supports the farmer protests." "I am safe but my concern is that terrorism and extremism are increasing in Punjab... How do we handle that?" Ranaut had said.
