A 15-year-old was found in a semi-nude state at her home in Assam’s Karimganj district on Sunday. The girl’s family claimed that she was sexually assaulted and killed by someone. The incident took place on Sunday night at the Railway Siding area under Karimganj police station. The police were informed about the girl’s death by her family members, who said that she was normal till 9 pm and then died under suspicious circumstances.

Police have initiated an investigation and took the body for post-mortem examination at Silchar. Karimganj SP Partha Pratim Das stated that the post-mortem report would reveal more details about the case.

"Our team reached the spot and took custody of the body. Her family members said she had casual conversations with them till 9 pm and seemed to be fine. However, she was found dead under mysterious circumstances thereafter. We will send the body to Silchar for the post-mortem," the SP said as quoted by news agency ANI.

He also said that no one has been arrested so far and the investigation is in its initial stage. He did not confirm or deny the allegation of rape and murder made by the girl’s family stating that the investigation is in a preliminary stage and the police are waiting for further evidence to come to any conclusion.
