A rare medical phenomenon was reported in Karnataka's Bagalkot district, where a baby boy was born with a total of 25 fingers. The boy, delivered at Sunshine Multispeciality Hospital in Banhatti taluka, has six toes on each foot and an unusual number of fingers - six on his right hand and seven on his left hand.
Doctors diagnosed the condition as polydactyly, a genetic anomaly caused by changes in chromosomes that result in the development of extra fingers or toes. A gynaecologist at Sunshine Hospital explained that such cases are extremely rare and often occur without a specific genetic cause. Despite the anomaly, both the newborn and his 35-year-old mother, Bharti, are reported to be healthy.
The baby's family views his birth as a divine blessing. Gurappa Konur, the child's father, expressed his joy and gratitude, attributing the rare birth to the blessings of the village goddess Bhuvaneshwari Devi. The family, who are devoted followers of the goddess, believe that the birth of their son is a divine blessing, reported INDIA TV.
