Karnataka News:  Protests erupted in Karnataka's Kalaburagi on Monday as thousands gathered to condemn the alleged rape of a class 5 girl by her school teacher in a private school in Yadrami. Videos shared by the news agency ANI showed a huge crowd, comprising mainly Hindu community members, gathering in Kalaburagi city and raising slogans against the accused and the administration.

As the protests heated up, some miscreants pelted stones at some vehicles, City Police Commissioner Sharanappa SD claimed. He also said that a few vehicles were set on fire by the miscreants.

"200-00 people had gathered. We had made elaborate arrangements... During the protest, some miscreants damaged a few vehicles. The situation was brought under control immediately... The event concluded peacefully. We will be looking into the vehicles, we will reach out to the vehicle owners and we will take up separate cases. We will take action on the miscreants who did the damage," the official said.

What Is Yadrami Rape Case

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the headmaster of the private school, where she studied, on Monday, December 2, The New Indian Express reported. The headmaster, identified as Khajasab, was promptly arrested by the Kalaburagi police. He was later produced in front of a city court, which sent him to 15 days judicial custody.

The victim is being treated in Kalaburagi District Government Hospital, and her condition is stable, the report stated.

Congress Govt At Protesters' Target

Today's protest, joined by many local Hindu leaders, witnessed the presence of over a thousand people, a local media report stated. Former MP Dr Umesh Jadhav, at a protest, accused the Congress government of raising atrocities against Hindus since taking office and demanded capital punishment for the accused in the Yadrami incident. Siddhalinga Swamiji pointed to similar attacks on Hindus, especially Dalits, in Kalaburagi, questioning District Minister Priyank Kharge's silence on the issue.
