Karnataka MGNREGA Payment:  A group of saree-clad men veiled their heads and pretended to be women in order to scam a government program and obtain Rs 3 lakh in benefits. The incident occurred in the Yadgir region of Karnataka, where men got their own pictures taken pretending to be women.

These pictures were then sent to the National Mobile Monitoring Service (NMMS), an attendance tracking system, to make it appear as though female employees were taking part in the plan.

The details indicate that these images were taken and posted in February of this year.

In addition to defrauding the government program, the scam left women without jobs, despite their urgent need for employment. When the scam was discovered, the district's residents called on the government to take strong action.

The local panchayat, on the other hand, stated that no officers were involved in the scheme and blamed it on a few outsourced labourers.

“I have no role in this case. An outsourced employee did this, I was unaware of the entire scam. When it came to my notice, I suspended the employee. Now, the MGNREGA work is going seamlessly in the village. We have given work to 2,500 workers," Chennabasava, Panchayat Development Officer of the Malhar village said.

Under the MGNREGA plan, the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj asserted that it had taken steps in March to create jobs for 100 days a year.

The goal of this was to stop workers from moving to large cities.

Demand centres have been established in all taluk and gram panchayats to assist those in need of employment, according to the Yadgir Zila Panchayat.
