Karnataka CM Row: The Karnataka power tussle, which appeared to have descended into comfortable silence after the breakfast meet, has once again grabbed headlines, as a Congress MLA claimed that Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar will take oath as CM on January 6.
The Congress MLA, H A Iqbal Hussain, who represents the Ramanagara seat, on Saturday, claimed that DK Shivakumar is likely to replace Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, taking over the chair on January 6.

While speaking to reporters, Hussain said there are ‘99 per cent chances’ that DK Shivakumar will take over the post of Chief Minister early next year. He added that two dates, January 6 and January 9, were widely being discussed, although he did not provide a specific reason behind the dates. Hussain said Shivakumar should be given a chance to lead the state; he expressed his support for Shivakumar a day earlier, too.
BJP Adds Fuel To Karnataka Leadership Struggle
The party matter took centre stage in the state political landscape after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna expressed support for Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara as a future chief minister.

While addressing a public gathering in Tumakuru, the BJP MP said leadership was a matter of luck and public wish, but the people of Tumakuru wanted Parameshwara to lead the state.
Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar To Meet Sonia Gandhi Today
Amid widening speculations, the CM and the Deputy CM are expected to meet Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on December 14. As per the sources, the meeting will be held after the mega Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan, as part of its wider campaign under ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’.
