Amid the ongoing Karnataka power tussle, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar seems to have validated the rumors of the alleged agreement between him and CM Siddaramaiah, which stipulated sharing the tenure as he took a veiled dig at the Congress top brass.
Directed at the Congress leadership, Shivakumar said, "Word power is World Power. The biggest force in the world is to keep one’s word."
He added, "Be it a judge, president or anyone else, including myself, everyone has to walk the talk. Word power is world power. Those standing at the back don’t know the value of the chair. What value and significance the chair holds".
"Instead of pulling a vacant chair and sitting, they are standing. While all senior leaders are seated, they are standing by refusing to sit. You won’t get any chair, you will be left behind," Shivakumar added.
His statement is widely seen as directed towards the Congress central leadership as party chief Mallikarjun Kharge had said that the top leadership, including him, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, will decide on the matter.

CM Siddaramaiah, on the other hand, has refused to budge as he had said that he will hold the office for the rest of the term.
The rounds of speculations and visits between Delhi and Bengaluru started soon after the Karnataka government completed its half-term.
According to the alleged agreement, Siddaramaiah became CM in 2023, only after DK Shivakumar decided to back off following an agreement that after half of the tenure, he would get the office. The agreement has been widely cited the Shivakumar loyalists.
They have reportedly claimed that the deal was sealed on May 18, 2023. The consensus was allegedly reached after prolonged discussions involving both the leaders, Kharge, KC Venugopal, Randeep Surjewala and MP DK Suresh, Shivakumar’s brother.
