Karnataka News: A 20-year-old woman, Aishwarya Mahesh Lohar, was murdered after rejecting a marriage proposal in Belagavi today. The accused, Prashant Kundekar, 29, from Yellur village, took his own life at the scene.

According to NDTV report, the crime took place at a house near Nath Pai Circle, where Aishwarya was staying. According to police, Prashant had been infatuated with Aishwarya for over a year and had previously expressed his intentions to marry her to her mother. However, her mother advised him to focus on achieving financial stability first.

Earlier today, Prashant visited Aishwarya's aunt's house carrying a bottle of poison. He once again insisted that she marry him. When Aishwarya refused, he attempted to force her to drink the poison. In a sudden turn, he pulled out a knife and fatally slit her throat.

Aishwarya died from severe blood loss and Prashant subsequently used the same knife to take his own life. Senior police officials, including City Police Commissioner Yada Martin, are now investigating the case further.

In separate news, a Bengaluru family— J.Nishanth, his wife Chandana and their 10-year-old son—mysteriously vanished from a resort near Bandipur in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district. They checked in on March 2 but disappeared the next day, leaving their luggage behind. Police suspect Nishanth, who falsely claimed to be a BBMP employee, was evading moneylenders after taking heavy loans. Authorities are investigating whether they were kidnapped or fled into the forest. A search operation has been launched across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
