Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah raised the compensation sum declared for the deceased in the stadium stampede from Rs 10 to Rs 25 lakh per family, according to the government.

On Wednesday, eleven people died and more than 50 were injured in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a big crowd had assembled to celebrate RCB's triumph.

"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered to increase the compensation amount for the kin of deceased to Rs 25 lakh each. Earlier the government had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each," a statement from the office of the Chief Minister stated.

The decision is part of the government's overall response to the catastrophe, which sparked public outcry over administration and a lack of crowd control at the high-profile event.

The Karnataka government has formed a one-man probe committee, led by former High Court judge John Michael Cunha, to look into the circumstances behind the stampede.

The panel will uncover breaches and omissions, as well as individuals accountable, and will make recommendations to avoid similar occurrences from happening again. According to the government's mandate, the panel is supposed to present its findings within 30 days.

An official announcement dated June 5 revealed that the panel will operate under the Commissions of Inquiry Act of 1952, with full authority to invite witnesses and examine evidence under the Civil Procedure Code.
