Karnataka Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several districts of Karnataka are likely to witness a sharp drop in temperature in the upcoming days. The weather department also stated that these districts are also set to experience a cold wave and mist, especially in the early hours of the day. The presence of fog is likely to affect the visibility in the morning hours, leading to inconveniences for the commuters. The temperature of Bengaluru is also likely to drop by two to three degrees Celsius in the upcoming days. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings in the early hours.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Rajchur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Gadag, Shivamogga, Haveri, Dharwad, Belgaum, Chikkaballapur, Koppal, Bellary, Bagalkot, and Davangere, are likely to witness a cold wave in the upcoming days. The IMD stated that the minimum temperature in all these districts is likely to drop to 9 to 12 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the state was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius on Friday in Vijayapura.

The capital city Bengaluru is also likely to witness a cold wave at least till December 16. While the maximum temperature is likely to be recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 14 degrees Celsius. Earlier last week, the IMD had warned that if the temperature falls to 12 degrees Celsius, it will be the coldest December since 2016.

However, the weather department assured that the situation is likely to improve after December 25, adding that the city is also expected to witness light rain at the end of the month. Along with Karnataka, several other states, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, are also set to experience a cold wave for the next few days.
