Karur Stampede: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday took a dig at the political rivals All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and actor-turned politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) allegedly for helping BJP in Tamil Nadu. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the DMK IT-cell posted a cartoon showing Palaniswami and Vijay carrying a palanquin on which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seated on a throne, along with a caption- IYKYK (if you know, you know). The cartoon was shared to show a possible inclusion of Vijay's party in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the next assembly election.
Apart from the cartoon, the ruling party also shared a famous line from one of the songs of the AIADMK's founder and former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran's movie, which in Tamil reads, 'why would slaves have blood running in their bodies?'. Ramachandran, populary known as MGR, was a promient Tamil actor and advocated Tamil rights in his movies and later in his politics. The AIADMK is currently a member of the NDA and is set to contest the next assembly election with the BJP.

However, the TVK has refuted the reports of its alliance with the BJP, reiterating that the saffron party is its ideological enemy. "We have never said we are aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party. In fact, we have always called it our 'ideological' enemy," TVK spokesperson Loyola Mani stated. Earlier last week, the DMK stated that the AIADMK and BJP have not targeted the TVK after Karur stampede that killed 41 and left hundreds injured.
