Days after facing a big defeat in the Delhi Assembly Polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal will go for Vipassana meditation in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur today. This will be the first occasion Kejriwal will leave Delhi after election snub.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa took a dig at Kejriwal’s proposed Vipassana session, saying that there was no need to go anywhere, as he would have plenty of time for Vipassana in jail.
Kejriwal had also visited this Vipassana center during his previous meditation retreats. Prior to this, he participated in several Vipassana sessions in Dharmkot, Nagpur and Bengaluru.
Notably, Kejriwal faced defeat in the New Delhi Assembly seat in the recent elections, where BJP’s Pravesh Verma defeated him. BJP even claimed that Kejriwal is now preparing to go to the Rajya Sabha. However, AAP has outrightly rejected this claim.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Sirsa, referring to Vipassana, said that Kejriwal will no longer be able to travel anywhere in the country because he won’t get air travel at government expense. He further stated that once the report from the Public Accounts Committee on the CAG is released and cases are registered, Kejriwal will have plenty of time for Vipassana in jail.
Vipassana is an ancient Indian meditation technique. Its literal meaning is "to see things as they truly are." Those who participate in it temporarily detach themselves from communication. During this time, they neither communicate with anyone nor make eye contact. It is considered a powerful meditation technique for self-purification and self-reflection. It is said that this method also helps in relieving stress.
