Kerala, Assam And Puducherry Elections 2026: As the 2026 Assembly elections approach, poll-bound states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry are gearing up for voting, with citizens preparing their voter identification.
For those who have not yet received their physical voter ID card, whether due to loss or delays in processing, there is no need to worry. You can still cast your vote in the upcoming Assembly elections in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry even without the plastic card.
Can You Vote Without a Voter ID Card?
Yes. If you are preparing to vote in the Kerala, Assam, or Puducherry Assembly elections, you can download a digital version of your Voter ID known as the e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card).
The e-EPIC is equally valid as the physical card. You can store it on your phone or take a printout for convenience. It is especially helpful for first-time voters aged 18 and above, new residents who haven’t received their physical cards yet, or individuals awaiting delivery.

How to Vote Without Original or Digital Voter ID
If you are unable to download your e-EPIC due to technical issues, you can still vote if your name is provided and listed in the electoral roll.
The Election Commission of India allows voters to use alternative government-issued identity documents at polling stations. These include:
- Aadhaar Card
- PAN Card
- Driving Licence
- Passport
In total, around 12 types of ID proofs are accepted.
Check Your Polling Booth
Before heading out to vote, make sure to verify your polling station, as locations may change. You can use the Election Commission’s electoral roll search tool to confirm your details.
This tool will provide your electoral roll part number and serial number, making it easier for polling officials to locate your name on the list.
