The BJP has announced Navya Haridas as its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-elections from Wayanad, setting the stage for a high-profile contest. Haridas will face Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, marking a significant political battle in the region.

The Election Commission announced that by-elections for 48 assembly constituencies and two parliamentary constituencies will be held next month. Voting for 47 assembly seats and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala will take place on November 13, while one assembly seat in Uttarakhand and the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra will be voted on November 20. The vote counting is scheduled for November 23.

The by-election in Wayanad was triggered after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who won from both Wayanad and Raebareli, decided to retain the Raebareli seat.

Navya Haridas, the BJP's candidate for the by-election, is the State General Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha. She has served two terms as a councillor in Kozhikode Corporation and is the BJP's parliamentary party leader in the corporation. Previously, she contested as the NDA candidate for the Kozhikode South constituency in the 2021 Assembly election.
