"The brutal attack on Sudheesh, VP of Kannur Youth Congress, by DYFI thugs is a stark reminder of the intolerance and violence that have become synonymous with the Pinarayi Vijayan government. I condemn this cowardly act of intimidation and demand immediate action against the perpetrators. Pinarayi Vijayan and his goons must realize that they cannot silence the voices of dissent and protest by force," he wrote in a message posted along with the video.

Aninvestigation into the matter has been launched, The Hindu reported, citing police authorities. Reacting to the incident, the CPI(M) has accused the Congress of attempting to obstruct the implementation of the state government's Navakerala Sadas programme with violence, The Hindu said in its report. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of Kerala is led by the CPI(M), while the Congress is the main opposition party in the state Assembly.
