Kolkata Metro Update: The Kolkata Metro conducted a train run from Airport to Noapara metro stations in an attempt to boost the regional connectivity. While providing details, the officials stated that the operation of metro on the Yellow line will significantly improve the connectivity between airport and other regions of the city. The operation of metro will provide significant relief to the residents of several parts of the city by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.
One of the Kolkata metro spokespersons stated that Metro Railway General Manager P Uday Kumar Reddy was also present during the trial run. He further stated that the trial was successful, adding that the operation is not likely to be delayed, reported ET Infra. Apart from this, Uday Reddy also inspected the Jai Hind Biman Bandar Metro station and gave important instructions to the officials.

"This stretch, once commissioned, would be a revolutionary step in providing a modern transport system to the people of Kolkata and suburbs to reach the airport," the spokesperson was quoted as saying by ET Infra. The officials further stated that the first trial run on the route was successfully conducted on January 25.
While providing details, the authority had stated that the total length between Noapara and Bimanbandar is more than 7 kilometers. Earlier on July 21, the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) completed the survey of the 1.6 km extension of the Purple Line from Esplanade to Eden Gardens.

The survey was conducted after the Raj Bhavan's clearance. The agencies normally do not seek the Governor's approval, but in this case, the proposed stretch will pass through the edge of the Raj Bhavan lawns before crossing over to the opposite flank where the fifth underground station of the corridor is planned.
TOI quoted an engineer saying, "Such surveys are typically conducted to ensure the project is feasible and well-planned. They help in understanding the terrain, soil conditions, and other relevant factors crucial to determining the alignment, construction methods, and overall project cost".
