RG Kar CBI Probe:  A Modi government minister demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying that she must quit if she can not handle the law and order situation in the state. Launching a scathing attack against TMC supremo over RG Kar doctor rape and murder, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that Mamata, being a woman, should be 'ashamed' of the brutal rape and murder of a young doctor.

Speaking to a news agency, Manji said: "A serious crime has been committed against a woman and the Supreme Court itself is taking cognisance of it. She (Mamata) should be ashamed as she is also a woman and Chief Minister."

"Law and order is a state subject and if she (Mamata) cannot handle it, then she should leave it and resign. She should stop blaming other people. The people of India have understood what she wants to say," he added.

BJP Claims Bengal CM, Officials Trying To Derail CBI Probe

BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Saturday said that the West Bengal government was still trying to obstruct the Kolkata woman doctor's rape and murder case inquiry and save the accused.

"The state government tried to create confusion among the public and destroy the evidence...The state government is still trying to obstruct the inquiry and save the accused. The state police is not coordinating with CBI... Every work that is being done by the state government, be it the principal, be it the DC, be it the CP or from the Chief Minister to all other leaders, these people want to dilute it deliberately," Ghosh told news agency ANI.

Congress Claims Victim's Family Kept Under House Arrest

Meanwhile, Congress, which has been attacking its INDIA ally over the doctor rape and murder, on Saturday alleged that the state government has put the victim's family under 'house arrest'. Chowdhury, who visited the house of the deceased doctor and spoke to her parents, alleged that the police had offered the father money for cremating the body quickly.
