Kolkata Rape-Murder: Kolkata Police has announced an extension on the prohibitionary orders around RG Kar Hospital for an additional week, extending them till August 31, ANI reported on Sunday. The orders seek to restrict the meetings, protests and gatherings of over 5 people near the medical college campus, which remained in the headlines for the brutal rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate trainee doctor on August 9.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal announced on Saturday that Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been extended around the hospital. The prohibitory orders now apply to the area stretching from the Belgachia Road-J.K. Mitra crossing to parts of the Shyambazar five-point crossing belt in North Kolkata.
