Kota NEET Aspirant Suicide News: A day after the NEET-UG results were declared, an 18-year-old medical aspirant died by suicide in Kota, police said on Thursday. She allegedly jumped from the ninth floor of her building. The incident occurred on Wednesday. She was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to her injuries an hour later, police added.
The 18-year-old girl from Reva district in Madhya Pradesh had been preparing for the NEET-UG exam at a coaching institute in Kota. Her brother, who is in the 12th grade, is also preparing for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), Circle Inspector at Jawahar Nagar Police Station, Harinarayan Sharma told PTI.

The results of the medical entrance exam were announced on Tuesday. This is the tenth suspected student suicide in Kota since January this year. Last year, 26 suspected suicide cases by coaching students were reported -- the highest in the last few years.
A woman, seeing her carry out the act, tried to intervene but failed to stop her, Sharma said. Family members and others immediately took her to a nearby private hospital, where she died after an hour of treatment. The body has been kept in the mortuary of Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) Hospital for post-mortem. The initial investigation showed that she had taken the NEET-UG exam, but the reason behind her drastic decision is still unclear, Sharma added.
