Harish Salve, former Solicitor General of India and one of the most renowned lawyers in the country, got married for a third time on Sunday. The 68-year-old exchanged vows with his bride Trina in the presence of close friends during a private ceremony, the photographs from which are being widely shared on social media. Salve's latest wedding took place in London with the most high-profile guests in attendance, including Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani.
Other top industrialists who attended the reception ceremony were Bharati Enterprises Chairperson Sunil Mittal, UK-based steel magnate LN Mittal, Indian-origin billionaire SP Lohia, and Hinduja Group chief Gopi Hinduja. Former IPL Chairman and fugitive Lalit Modi and his girlfriend model Ujjwala Raut were also photographed attending the event.
The senior lawyer's marriage to his first wife Meenakshi lasted for 38 years until June 2020, when he divorced her and, a few months later, married Caroline Brossard.
One of the most notable cases in recent times that saw Salve's involvement as a counsel pertains to the death sentence awarded to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav by a Pakistani military court on charges of spying. Salve appeared before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on behalf of India in the case. His efforts resulted in the court ordering a provisional stay on Jadahv's execution until a final verdict is pronounced.
Salve also represented Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. He has also been the counsel for major Indian business entities like Tata Group, Reliance Industries, and ITC Limited.
