Hamood Ahmad Siddiqui, aged 50, has been arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police from Hyderabad in connection with three fraud cases that are 25 years old, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia was saying quoted PTI. Hamood is the younger brother of the Faridabad-based Al Fatah University’s Chancellor, Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui, who is at the centre of an intense investigation in connection with the Red Fort blast.
Earlier, a reward of Rs 10,000 had been announced for the arrest of Hamood Ahmad Siddiqui. The younger brother was arrested on Sunday in connection with three cases registered in Madhya Pradesh's Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) town for alleged fraud in investment.
What Are The Charges?
As per police official said that Hamood was accused of taking more than Rs 40 lakh of money from the people under the promise of investment and an interest of 20 per cent. “He ran the company in Mhow for two years and fled the town with his family in the third year," the official added.
The cases of fraud were lodged against him in the year 2000 under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and similar cases. Additionally, two separate cases were registered against him at the Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) police station in 1988 and 1989 on the charges of rioting and attempt to murder.
According to Bhutia, the accused currently runs a private company in Hyderabad and is engaged in the profession of stock trading.

Who Is Hamood Ahmad Siddiqui?
Hamood Ahmad Siddiqui, the younger brother of Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui, was a resident of Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow), where he ran an investment firm and was the managing director from 1995. As per available information, besides him, his wife and one of his close associate was also involved in the company and were part of the board of directors of the company.
Hamood vanished in thin air after establishing a bogus private bank in 2000 and operated it from underground, luring hundreds of residents with fake promises of financial boom. As per Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) Sub Divisional Officer of Police Lalit Singh, “He had fled with his family soon after the scam surfaced, leaving authorities searching for him for decades. He was arrested in Hyderabad yesterday."
The arrest was made after the Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) police began re-examining the background of Jawad Siddiqui, and his local roots came to light, the official said. Currently, a detailed review of Hamood is going on. Investigators are also trying to piece together Hamood’s contacts and his movements over the years to arrest Hamood’s accomplice (if any).
