Amid an ongoing debate over the alleged imposition of Hindi over Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday reiterated that the central government was trying to impose Hindi over Tamil-speaking citizens. He further stated that Tamil Nadu has never taken directions from Delhi, adding that the recent suggestions from the central government were like "LKG student lecturing a PhD holder".
However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Stalin of not working in the interest of the Tamil language. Shah stated that Stalin talks about the empowerment of Tamil Nadu, but he has not introduced medical and engineering courses in Tamil. He further stated that the current government has worked for the growth of the regional languages.
"Till now, there was no place for the mother tongue in the CAPF recruitment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided that our youth will now be able to write their CAPF exam in all languages in the Eighth Schedule, including Tamil," Shah stated.
"I want to urge the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to take steps towards introducing the curriculum of medical and engineering courses in Tamil language as soon as possible," he added. However, CM Stalin emphasised that the central government was trying to impose Hindi through New Education Policy (NEP) and alleged that the saffron party is a threat to the linguistic identity of Tamil Nadu.

Stalin had also said that the state government was doing its job, but the unnecessary remarks from the central government ministers have ignited the controversy. "It was the Union Education Minister who provoked us to write this series of letters when we were simply doing our job. He forgot his place and dared to threaten an entire state to accept Hindi Imposition, and now he faces the consequences of reviving a fight he can never win. Tamil Nadu will not be blackmailed into surrendering," Stalin said.
"This is like an LKG student lecturing a PhD holder. Dravidam does not take dictations from Delhi. Instead, it sets the course for the nation to follow," he added. While the Tamil Nadu leaders are accusing the central government of imposing Hindi on Tamil Nadu, the central ministers are saying that all the languages should be treated equally.
