Congress on Thursday held the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting. Amid the buzz over Rahul Gandhi contesting from two seats, a report by Hindustan Times said that he will be fighting from Kerala's Wayanad. The MP represented the Wayanad seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
However, the leaders of the party declined to give any confirmation on the same.
Following the meeting, Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he is not authorised to speak, however, adding that a discussion took place on some states and the rest will after two to three days.

Earlier, Union Minister Smriti Irani has launched an attack at Congress for "delay" in announcing its candidate list from Amethi, saying it appears that they have realised the power of Amethi and the fear of defeat is haunting that party.

"At the moment I do not know who will contest the elections, but the way Congress people are not able to muster the courage to declare the candidate from here, it seems that Amethi's power and fear of defeat is haunting them. This is a clear indication of their defeat," she had said while speaking to the reporters.
Irani, who defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections from the Amethi seat, said, "Why are people who say that Amethi is the Gandhi family's bastion taking so much time to announce a candidate? Their lack of confidence tells that Amethi is no longer the Congress' stronghold," she said.
