Madhya Pradesh News: A distressing video from Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam has gone viral, showing a 16-year-old teenager repeatedly striking three children - aged 6, 9, and 11 - with his slipper while asking them to chant a religious phrase. The teenager also verbally assaults the three boys, accusing them of learning to smoke cigarettes and asking for their family's phone numbers.
According to police, a case has been filed, and the teenager and another 14-year-old who shot the video have been detained.
The video shows the children, who live in the city's Manakchowk neighbourhood, can be seen crying, chanting the slogan, and hiding their faces from the teenager's attacks, vowing not to repeat their actions.
The incident happened approximately a month and a half ago, but the footage surfaced recently, causing outrage. On Thursday night, a large crowd gathered outside a local police station, prompting the deployment of more officers, but it dispersed after officials pledged action.
Ratlam additional superintendent of police (Addl SP) Rakesh Khaka said, “A video related to the beating of children has gone viral. The video is said to be about a month old. In this regard, the cyber team has been asked to investigate the matter and search for the accused.”
A case was launched against the 16- and 14-year-old boys for assault, abuse, making threats, and injuring religious sensibilities. They've been brought into custody.
