In a shocking incident, a Class 8 student and national-level skating competitor attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of his private school in Dongre Nagar, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday. The boy, who sustained severe injuries, was immediately taken to a private hospital, where his condition is now reported to be stable.

School authorities revealed that the student had brought his mobile phone to school on Thursday and recorded a video in class, which he later uploaded to social media. The school administration became aware of the video and contacted the boy's parents on Friday to discuss the breach of school rules.

According to an NDTV report, school CCTV footage, which is now part of the investigation, shows the 13-year-old entering the Principal's office. Inside, he spent nearly four minutes repeatedly apologising, uttering "sorry" 52 times, visibly anxious and distressed.

The boy later claimed that the principal had allegedly threatened to "end his career," suspend him, and "take away his medals." Already known for his national-level achievements in skating, the child reportedly broke down upon hearing this.

Shortly after, he was seen running out of the office, dashing through the corridor before tragically leaping from the third floor.

In a distressing turn, the boy's father was sitting in the school's waiting area at that very moment, unaware of the tragic events unfolding just metres away.

"I was invited to meet my son. When I arrived at the school, I was told he had fallen... He has competed in nationals twice in skating. I received a call from the school, but then another call came asking me to go straight to the hospital," said the boy’s father, Pritam Katara.

SDM Archie Harit confirmed that the student had violated school policy by bringing a phone to school, but noted that the situation had escalated unexpectedly. "The child is in Class 8. He brought his phone, ran, and jumped. His condition is stable. An investigation will be conducted. Mobile phones are prohibited at the school, even teachers' phones are confiscated. He is a skilled national-level skater," Harit told NDTV.

The school authorities mentioned that they planned to speak with the boy’s father before taking any disciplinary action. However, the swift sequence of events, including the boy’s repeated apologies and his extreme response, has raised serious concerns about how the situation was managed.
