Madvi Hidma, the Maoist commander with a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head, was eliminated by the security forces on Tuesday in the bordering areas of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. Hidma belonged to Chhattisgarh's Sukma district and was widely known for his lethal armed operations in recent years. Widely known as Himandlu and Santosh, he was active in the south Bastar region for the past two decades and led multiple operations in the Abujhmad and Sukma-Bijapur forest belt. After several hours of intense exchange of fire, security forces killed six Maoists, including Hidma, in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh.
Madvi Hidma's Rise Through The Ranks
Hidma has been active in the Maoist operations in the bordering areas of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh for the past two decades. He was selected as the secretary of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKZC), a key decision-making body for the CPI (Maoist). His early success led to his promotion within the organisation as he led a battalion of 130–150 armed cadres in multiple regions such as Sukma and Bijapur.
His Role In Maoist Attacks
As per the police records, Hidma's name has been linked to several lethal attacks, including the killings of 76 CRPF personnel in Dantewada in 2010, the Darbha Valley attack on the state Congress leadership, the twin attack on security personnel in Sukma that killed 37, and the 2021 attack in Bijapur district. His involvement in these attacks led to his inclusion in NIA's most-wanted list. Earlier in 2025, the security forces informed that he narrowly escaped in an operation in the Karregutta hills in which 31 other Maoists were killed.
